Plastic Butter on Spotlight

Plastic Butter’s new EP, “Plastic Heartbeat” is coming this October!

Formed in 2005, Plastic Butter is a long-standing pillar of Davao City’s indie rock scene— hitting local dives with their award-winning mix of dance punk and 90s alternative fuzz-outs until their initial dissolution in 2009.

Over a decade later, the band is back— revisiting their earlier eclecticism with refined perspectives, and a new record with legendary indie rock producer, Jerome Velasco (Teeth, Daydream Cycle, Pupil).

The band’s 2021 release, Plastic Heartbeat is a love letter to local independent music— distilling the sound of indie nightlife, and the liminal spaces between. Four-on-the-floor stompers make way for more nuanced arrangements and a newfound love of modulated shimmer— ushering a new era for the band’s trademark stylistic plasticity.
